Gianyar (Antaranews Bali) - Bali Zoo has created an Easter attraction that lures animals to go in search of specially prepared eggs.
"The program stimulates the natural instincts of the animals, getting them to hunt in their natural habitat," Head of the Bali Zoo Community Relations Emma Kristiana Chandra said here on Friday.
The manager has transformed egg-shaped rattan, decorating them with typical Easter colors and filling them with the favorite foods of the animals.
On the occasion, the lemurs in particular will enjoy the extra food.
Several colorful eggs have been hung on the branches of trees in the Madagascar animal`s cage.
The grey and black colored animals were seen swarming towards the eggs containing various kinds of vegetables, including lettuce and beans, and grapes.
In addition to the lemurs, another animal to receive the Easter prize is the new three-month-old Sumatran tiger displayed on the zoo`s tiger trail.
In another cage, two large colorful eggs containing 4kg of beef have been placed to attract a male tiger named Pandeka, aged 3.5 years, and a female tiger named Sean, aged 5 years.
The two tigers, Chandra said, are a grant from Bukittinggi Wildlife Park, West Sumatra.
"These tigers are new inhabitants, and we are always trying to hone their sense of smell to hunt," she added.
The event is a special Easter attraction for tourists visiting the zoo, which has a collection of some 500 rare and protected animals.
Visitors can also interact directly with the friendly lemurs and observe the hunting behavior of Sumatran tigers through the thick glass during feeding time.
"It`s so cool; I`ve never seen lemurs. They were funny. It`s really interesting," a visitor from Brisbane, Australia, Finn de Nino said. (WDY)
