Samarinda (Antara Bali) - Rescue workers are still searching for missing passengers of the KM Karya Indah sinking in the river of Mahakam, East Kalimantan .
There is no official figure, however, about the number of the passengers of the ill-fated vessel when it sank on Wednesday in the river in the Harapan Baru area that afternoon at 18.30 local time.
"The vessel had no manifest from which we say the number of passngers," head of the local Police Service Center First Adj. Insp. Misser said.
The Trauma Service Center said 17 passengers were saved and one body was found identified as Nuhayati (43).
Meanwhile, people reported 22 of their family members among the passengers still missing, but the figure could not be confirmed.
"Normally workers on their return from work struggle with each other to get into ship, therefore, it is impossible to give an exact figure for the number of the passengers," a witness said. (*/DWA/IGT)
