Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Bali province of Indonesia is chosen to be the pilot project of men's vasectomy family planning program in controlling the country's population growth, an official said.

According to the central National Family Planning Agency, BKKBN, chief inspector Mieke Selvia Sangian, said here Wednesday that the Wife Loving Husband program is no longer depends on the wife, but also with husband's participation.

Bali is considered to have a fairly prominent reputation in implementing family planning program for men, with their awareness in participating for vasectomy or use condom regularly, she said.

"Bali's success in persuading men in their fertile age as a family program acceptor is expected can be transmitted to other provinces in Indonesia," Mieke said.

Mieke also emphasized about Bali as a men family planning program pilot project where husbands also responsible for the program, not only the wives who are participating the program.

BKKBN Chief Representative of Bali office I Wayan Sundra, reported that the actual achievement of family planning acceptors-men (vasectomy) in Bali is 373 people or 93.25 percent of the 2012 target or as many as 400 people.

This year the target is increased to 422 people and acceptor using condom is 3756 people. The participation of men in family planning program is more strengthened by providing convenience and choice in choosing their contraceptives. (IGT/T007)
