Klaten, Central Java (Antara Bali) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) handed out "magic cards" in Klaten district, Central Java, on Monday.
The distribution of magic cards, which comprised the Healthy Indonesia Cards (KIS), Smart Indonesia Cards (KIP), and Family Welfare Cards (KKS), took place at the Temuwangi elementary school in Pedan sub-district.
Before allotting the cards, President Jokowi addressed the local community and laborers regarding the use of the magic cards. The president thereafter distributed 1,646 KIS, 477 KIP, and 532 KKS to the public.
President Jokowi's government has launched the magic cards in a bid to provide optimum services in the field of health, education, and social welfare to the public.
The KIS will guarantee the provision of healthcare services to the disadvantaged as implemented through the National Health Insurance (JKN), which is under BPJS Health.
The range of participants will be gradually increased to include those with social welfare problems and the infants of Premium Assistance Beneficiaries (PBI), who are currently not covered.
The KIS provide additional benefits, preventive, promotional, and early detection services that will be integrated and implemented in a more intensive manner.
The KIS aim to ensure that regardless of the social status of the participants, there is no bias in offering health service facilities to them.
On the other hand, the KIP will guarantee that all school-aged children from disadvantaged families receive financial assistance for education until they complete high school or vocational school.
This program will gradually expand to reach as many as 24 million school-aged children, including those with social welfare problems and school-aged children from disadvantaged families who were previously not covered.
The KIP will also cover school-aged children not enrolled in schools such as street children, child laborers, orphans, and the disabled.
The KKS were issued by the government to disadvantaged households. On the occasion, President Jokowi was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Culture and Human Development Puan Maharani, Culture, Elementary and Secondary Education Minister Anies Baswedan, Health Minister Nila F. Moeloek, Social Affairs Minister Khofifah Indra Parawansa, and Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo. (WDY)
