Pontianak (Antara Bali) - Indonesia is predicted to have 4.5 million childbirths in 2012, an official from the National Family Planning Board (BKKBN) said.
"BKKBN is targeting the 4.5 million new mothers for enrolment in the post-birth family planning program," BKKBN's Deputy Chairman for Training and Program Development Kasmiyati said here on Friday.
She noted that if the program was successful, the target of having 7.3 million more people enrol in the family planning program would also be achieved.
Kasmiyati added that the BKKBN would also focus on increasing the number of families willing to plan childbirth through the use of contraception.
According to the Home Affairs Ministry, the population in Indonesia by December 31, 2010 had reached 259,940,857, of which 132,240,055 were men and 127,700,802 women.(IGT)
