Gorontalo (Antara Bali) - Gorontalo provincial administration exported 4,000 tons of maize to Vietnam for the first time this year, the Gorontalo governor said.
Gorontalo governor Rusli Habibie said here over the weekend that Vietnam is a new market for the provincial maize export.
"Vietnam will increase its maize import from Gorontalo," he said.
Total sale of the provincial maize product until July 2012 has reached 122,153 tons both for export purpose and domestic need, Rusli said.
The amount of inter-island maize sale was recorded at 91,853 tons while that for the export purpose totaled 30,300 tons with its destinations the Philippines and Vietnam.
The values of all maize transactions reached Rp3.8 billion, the governor said, expecting that the provincial maize product can be stepped up.(IGT)
