Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesias House Speaker Ade Komarudin condemned the suicide bomb attacks in three cities in Saudi Arabia on Monday afternoon, especially the one in the holy city of Medina.
"I strongly condemn the inhuman actions. Worse, one of the targets was the Nabawi Mosque, which is one of the historic places in Islam, and Medina is the holiest city after Mecca," he said in a written statement here on Tuesday.
He described the suicide bomb attacks as intolerable and far removed from the values that religion teaches. Moreover, these happened at a time when Muslims across the world would be meeting for Eid al-Fitr festival.
The politician from Golkar Party, one of Indonesias major political parties, stated that he was very sad and concerned over the incident that occurred during the holy month of Ramadhan and ahead of Eid al-Fitr. He conveyed his deep condolences to the families of all victims.
"Tomorrow, Muslims across the world will celebrate Eid al-Fitr but unfortunately, we had to hear such sad news about our Muslim brothers in Saudi Arabia," he rued.
Ade called on the people in the country to keep monitoring such radical elements, especially in Indonesia.
He also urged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assure that no Indonesian citizen in Saudi Arabia has been affected by the incident.
He reminded that many Indonesian citizens were currently conducting minor hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia and their safety needs to be given maximum attention. (WDY)
