Indonesia Promotes Yacht Tourism In New Zealand

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesia is promoting yacht tourism potential in New Zealand which is one of the potential markets in the Asia Pacific region.

Assistant Deputy for Asia Pacific Market Development, Tourism Ministry, Vinsensius Jemadu here on Thursday said the ministry will promote Indonesia's tourism potential of Indonesia to the New Zealand community, especially the yachters.

"We will promote yacht tourism in Auckland on November 27 and we are optimistic that we can attract the yachters to sail to Indonesia," he said.

In addition to promoting tourism yacht, the Ministry of Tourism is also working with the Indonesian Embassy in Wellington to hold Indonesia Festival on November 27 to 28 in Queenstown.

"This event will feature cultural arts performances, promotion of tourist destinations, handicraft products exhibition, and Indonesian food bazaar," he noted.

Vinsensius said Queenstown, which is located in the south of New Zealand, was chosen as a target promotion because it is a tourist city that visited by domestic and foreign tourists.

"Thus, the Indonesia Festival will not only enjoyed by the local people, but also will be visited by foreign tourists across the world," he said.

Yacht becomes one of the potential markets that is seriously explored on by the Indonesian government today.

Tourism minister Arief Yahya targeted yacht tourism can generate income to US$ 600 million in 2019.

The Presidential Decree No. 105 of 2015 facilitates foreign yachts entering Indonesia¿s waters territory to manage CIQP (custom, immigration, quarantine, port) documents in 18 ports.

This policy is  expected to increase the number of tourist visits to Indonesia up to 6,000 yachts in 2018.

The eighteen yacht ports are Sabang (Aceh), Belawan (Medan, North Sumatra), Teluk Bayur (Padang, West Sumatra), Nongsa Point Marina (Batam, Riau Islands), Banda Bintan Telani (Bintan, Riau Islands), Tanjung Pandan (Belitung), Sunda Kelapa dan Ancol (Jakarta), Tanjung Benoa (Bali), dan Tenau (Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara).

In addition, Kumai (Kotawaringin Barat, Central Kalimantan), Tarakan, Nunukan (Bulungan, North Kalimantan), Bitung (North Sulawesi), Ambon (Maluku), Saumlaki (West Maluku), Tual (Southeast Maluku), as well as Sorong dan Biak (Papua). (WDY)
