Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Ministry of Education and Culture is promoting a movie by Joko Anwar, entitled A Copy of My Mind, to compete at the Venice Film Festival 2015 from September 2 through 12.
"This promotion is aimed to support the film industry in Indonesia and to support the movie competing with other world movies at the international level," Director General of Culture Kacung Maridjan said here on Friday.
A Copy of My Mind is the story of a woman who works at salon and a man working as an interpreter for pirated DVDs in Jakarta. They meet and fall in love, and have to learn to live with the political world that threatens their relationship.
The film, starring Tara Basro, Chicco Jerikho, Ario Bayu, Panigor Maera, is also to be screened at the Toronto Film Festival.
At the Venice Film Festival, A Copy of My Mind has been nominated in the Orrizonti Competition category. This film is the only movie to represent Southeast Asia at the 72nd festival.
"The Venice Film Festival is the oldest film festival in the world and is a very prestigious film festival," Maridjan said.
The film's director, Joko Anwar, said the film is something of a time capsule of Jakarta.
A Copy of My Mind will be aired in February 2016.(WDY)
