Jakarta (Antara Bali) -- Having the required resources and financial strength, it is believed that Indonesia is taken into account in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector at both regional and global levels, according to an official.
"The ICT business is capital-intensive. However, Indonesian companies can certainly be taken into consideration in this sector, as long as there are supporting regulations, capital and steps to maintain the environment," Founder of IndoTelko Forum Doni Ismanto Darwin said here on Wednesday.
During a discussion on ICT, Darwin cited an example of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom), a corporation that expanded considerably abroad and offers services in more than 10 countries.
Among individuals, he noted, Indonesia was increasingly feared, thanks to Professor Khoirul Anwar, an inventor and the owner of the patent for fourth generation cellular technology (4G), which later became a standard of the International Telecommunications Union.
In addition, Darwin pointed out that it was no easy task for a company or an individual to carry out businesses in the international arena as the assessment standards enforced in the international market are high and competition, stiff. (WDY)
