Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Electrical power consumption in Indonesia grew 3.6 percent to 16.74 tera watts hour (TWh) in March 2015 from 16.16 TWh in the same month last year, according to state electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).
"Electrical power sales in March 2015 was quite promising as it grew 3.6 percent compared to March last year," Head of PLN Commercial Division Benny Marbun said here on Wednesday.
Cumulatively, electrical power consumption in the first quarter of 2015 reached 48.04 TWh, a 2.64 percent increase compared to 46.81 TWh in the same period last year.
But he added that the electrical power consumption growth of 2.64 percent in the first quarter of 2015 was lower than that of the same quarter last year which reached 7.58 percent. "After all, looking at the electrical power growth in March 2015, it seems that there would be an increase in electrical power sales in the future," he said.
Furthermore, electrical power consumption by group of business customers such as malls in March 2015 increased 12.9 percent, he said. However, the electrical power consumption by industrial customers only grew 3.5 percent in March 2015 compared to March 2014.
"By providing special facilities to new connections for industrial and business customers, PLN is optimistic that the sales growth target for 2015 will be achieved," he said. (WDY)
