Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) said it would continue to guard the government policy in exploiting marine resources for the people's welfare.
Kadin, therefore, would take part in the government's efforts to strengthen the country's economic structure with focus on food security, its general chairman Suryo Bambang Sulisto said in a statement here on Friday.
Suryo said food security could be a reality through realization of food self sufficiency and strengthening the country's industrial structure.
"In line with its working program, Kadin would continue to seek to accelerate economic development in the regions with the support from the government by creating connectivity , financial support and conducive regulations ," he said.
He said President Joko Widodo has taken a right step in seeking to bring back to life the past glory of the maritime sector.
He pointed out sea makes up 75 percent of the country's territory , but unfortunately the marine resources have been remained almost untapped.
Earlier the Fishery Association urged the government to create business certainty and provide subsidy for business players in the fishery sector.
The Commission IV of the Parliament, hearing the aspirations of the association , said it is the responsibility of the government to create business certainty.
The association also asked the government to provide subsidy on diesel oil for all fishing boats including large fishing boats in addition to subsidies on fish feed. (WDY)
