At least representatives from 48 countries in Asia, America, and Africa, met in an international congress on public administration opened by Vice President Boediono at Westin Hotel in Nusa Dua Wednesday night.
"Some 229 working papers are discussed in the congress by the experts, academicians and practicians of state administration, development and managerial administration," Head of the National Institute of Public Administration Asmawi Rewansyah said when opening the 28th International Conference on Public Administration.
Asmawi said the background of the meeting is finding an answer to various serious problems facing the poor and developing countries against the developed and rich countries.
The participants are trying to find the roots of the problems.
Taking part in the meeting are 541 participants from 48 countries with China having the biggest number of participants totalling 37, and South Africa 34.
"All the working papers were discussed in panel discussions, workshops, working groups, and plenary sessions to sharpen the issues at hand," he said.
The participants are also taking part in social activities and also visiting a number of natural and cultural tourist objects in Bali.
The International Congress of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) and International Asssociation of Schools and Institutions of Administration (IASIA) are held also on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of IIAS. The event was attended by President of IASIA Prof Allan Rosenbaum and President of IIAS Prof Franz Strehl. (*)
