Jakarta (Antara Bali) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono called on Indonesian citizens in Egypt to continue to coordinate with the Indonesian embassy and do not involve themselves in that country to maintain their safety and security.
"The Indonesian citizens in Egypt including students should avoid dangerous places. Keep communicating with the Indonesian Embassy and do not involve in conflict," President Yudhoyono said on his Twitter account @SBYudhoyono here on Sunday.
The president said he has assigned the Indonesia ambassador in Egypt to continue to monitor the situation and secure the Indonesian nationals residing in that country.
"The Indonesian ambassador in Cairo continued to report the progress of situation including efforts to secure the Indonesian nationals there," the head of state said.
Apart from that, President Yudhoyono also urged the United Nations (U.N.) to be involved in mediating conflict in Egypt to prevent further casualties.
"I think the solution is a compromise between the two parties and
not "the winner takes all". The U.N. and the world should encourage and support (the compromise)," the president said.
The head of state said it is better that the U.N. takes an initiative to prevent greater bloodshed. "All efforts should be taken including reconciliation," the president said. (*/DWA)
