Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian Army Headquarters has replaced Maj. Gen Hardiono Saroso as chief of the Diponegoro Regional Military Command IV following the raid of a prison in Yoyakarta by Army's Special Forces (Kopassus) members recently.
Head of Army Headquarters' Information Service Brig. Gen. Rukman Ahmad said here on Saturday that the replacement was not connected to Hardiono's statement in denying Kopassus members's involvement in the attack on Cebongan prison in Sleman, Yogyakarta, killing four detainees.
"I should stress here that Maj. Gen. Hardiono is succeeded not removed. This is part of a career development," Rukman said.
Hardiono will be succeeded by Maj Gen Sunindyo who is previously assistant to the Army chief of staff for personnel affairs.
Head of Army's Sub-Information Service Col. Zaenal Arifin confirmed the replacement of the Diponegoro Regional Military Command chief from Maj Gen Hardiono to Maj Gen Sunindyo.
The ceremony for the transfer of the post will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013 at the Army's Headquarters. (*/DWA)
