Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Anas Urbaningrum will likely to resign as the chairman of the Democratic Party (PD)'s Executive Board Council following a decision by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to name him a suspect in a graft case, a senior member of the party said.

"In a press conference to be held today, Anas will announce his resignation," Ahmad Mubarok, a member of the Democratic Party's Advisory Council, said here on Saturday.

KPK on Thursday named  Anas Urbaningrum suspect for allegedly receiving a gift or making a pledge linked to the planning and implementation of a sports complex project in Hambalang, West Java, KPK spokesman Johan Budi said in a press conference at the KPK Building.

Mubarok said the planned resignation of Anas Urbaningrum will be in line with the party's integrity pact signed by the party's cadres, including Urbaningrum.

"Besides, Anas is a person who always abides by the party's political ethics and statute," Mubarok. (*/DWA)
