In his address at the ceremony, the minister asked Ratu Atut and Rano Karno to maintain harmony in carrying out their tasks as Banten governor and vice governor.
"There should not just be a fleeting harmony between the governor and vice governor and therefore the duties and authority of the vice governor must be defined in a decision of the governor," Gamawan Fauzi said.
He said the Ratu Atut Chosiyah-Rano Karno pair had great power and potential because Atut was the only female governor in Indonesia while Rano Karno, a former artist, was a figure quite well known among the Indonesian public.
"The public's trust in the pair should be strong capital for the duo to develop every potential in Banten province," the home affairs minister said.(T007)
