Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Setara Institute governing body chairman Hendardi has said that the cabinet reshuffle, made by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, was not impressive because it was loaded with political content.
"The government of President Yudhoyono is like a slow-moving car with an obsolete machine, and a driver who is unable to choose his co-driver," Hendardi said in a press statement on Tuesday.
He said that to improve the performance of government engine, the engine should under a major overhaul to examine every part of it and to make necessary changes or repairs.
"But to replace a component with an inappropriate one will make the machine even worse instead of better," Hendardi said.
Therefore he noted that the cabinet reshuffle which was made by President Yudhoyono at the end of his reign of three years should truly improve the government performance instead of its image.
"The machine of President Yudhoyono's government is not running well because of overflowing viscous oil by political interests," Hendardi noted.
Moreover, he added that the Democrat Party should have functioned as driving carriage but it even become an obstacle because most of its top officials were involved in various cases.
He said that in order to maintain his political power, President Yudhoyono continued to accommodate those officials, although they were proven to be incapable.
According to Hendardi, the clearest example was the accommodation of a number of ministers who were chairmen of some political parties.
"Therefore the cabinet reshuffle is by no means impressive and becomes an anti-climax of an uproar that was created," Hendardi said.(*)
