Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesia will host the first Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) integrated logistics and supply chain exhibition, following a serial intralogistics exhibition in several countries in Europe and Asia.
Chairman of the Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association Yukki Nugrahawan Hanafi here on Tuesday (February 28) welcomed the exhibition titled "CeMat Southeast Asia, TransAsia Jakarta, Indonesia Coldchain" to be held in Tangerang, Banten, on March 2-4, 2017.
"We hope ColdChain Indonesia would be able to develop business networks and become the solution for challenges faced by the logistics industry in the ASEAN region, especially Indonesia," Hanafi noted, adding that Indonesia is viewed as having huge opportunities for logistics business since it has a large trading volume and population.
CeMat has been successfully held in Hannover in Germany, Shanghai in China, Moscow in Russia, Mumbai in India, and Melbourne in Australia.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution had earlier highlighted the importance of constructing toll roads to facilitate access to logistics and to promote economic development.
"The toll roads are expected to facilitate access and reduce congestion, so that it boosts the economy, especially in areas along the roads," Nasution noted.
The government has approved five toll road projects, with a total length of 362.02 kilometers (km), to be accelerated through the government and enterprises scheme at an investment of Rp51 trillion.
The five toll road projects include the 36-km-long Jakarta-Cikampek II Elevated Road, with an investment of Rp14.7 trillion; 38-km-long Krian-Legundi-Bunder-Manyar Road, with an investment of Rp9 trillion; and 60-km-long Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan Road, with an investment value of Rp8.2 trillion.
In addition, the 84-km-long Serang-Panimbang Road, with an investment of Rp5.3 trillion, and the 143-km-long Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat Road, with an investment of Rp13.4 trillion, will be built under the scheme. (WDY)
