Jakarta (Antara Bali) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) opened the first National Working Meeting of All-Indonesia District Legislative Councils Association (Adkasi) here on Tuesday evening.

The president arrived at the venue of the meeting held at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) Hall in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, at 04.20 p.m. He was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto and Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo.

Shortly after arriving at the venue of the meeting, the president shook hands with the participants of the meeting and later took a selfie with several of them.

Early in June 2016, the Adkasi executive board met with the president to report a plan to hold the meeting which would bring together district legislators, district heads, and mayors across the country.

At the meeting with the head of state, members of the Adkasi executive board also discussed several issues including the associations request to the president not only to invite regional officials but also leaders of district, municipal and provincial legislative councils if he wants to get inputs from regions.

If the president asked for inputs only from district heads and mayors, then their governors would not receive complete directives from him, they said.

"So far the president has asked for inputs only from mayors and district heads. We, the capacity as Adkasi, propose that the president will also invite the leadership of regional legislative councils from throughout Indonesia," Adkasi Secretary General Agus Solihin added.(WDY)
