Denpasar (Antara Bali) - The branch of state lender Bank Mandiri in Bali and
Nusa Tenggara said it is optimistic to collect Rp17 trillion in third
party funds (DPK) this year.
Chief Executive Officer of the bank branch Maswar Purnama said the optimism is based on the stability of Bali`s economy .
"Bali`s economy has been relatively stable in the first six months of the year. The Bali`s economy even grew 9 percent year-on-year," he said here on Wednesday.
In Bali alone the bank branch already succeeded in collecting Rp11.5 trillion in third party funds with credit disbursement at Rp5 trillion, he said.
In addition, the tax amnesty policy gave greater optimism to success in collecting DPK , he said.
Bank Mandiri is one of the banks named by the government to accommodate and mobilize the funds repatriated under the tax amnesty program.
Many rich Indonesian have parked their money in banks abroad to evade tax but with the tax amnesty policy, they are expected to repatriate their funds, which would be needed for investment in the country .
The inflow of the fund is expected to strengthen liquidity in the domestic financial market and the government hope the fund could be invested in the country to recover the economy from the long slump.
However, there has been no investors taking part in the tax amnesty program using the service of the bank in Bali and Nusa Tenggara, although around 20 business leaders have asked information about the program. (WDY)
