Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Chinese company PT Bauing Construction Group has donated Rp2 billion to the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI).
The donation was symbolically presented by President Director of PT Bauing Construction Group Gu Shao to PMI Central Board Chief Executive Ginandjar Kartasasmita in the presence of Vice President Jusuf Kalla in Jakarta on Tuesday.
"We thank you for the donation. These funds will be used to overcome the difficulties faced by the disaster-affected communities," stated Kalla, who is concurrently the general chairman of PMI.
On the occasion, Gu Shao stated that the donated funds came from the proceeds of the auction of two Chinese paintings.
"We donate these funds to the PMI to assist in its efforts to address health issues, and I am sure this donation will strengthen the relations between Indonesia and China," he emphasized.
Meanwhile, Kartasasmita vowed to optimally manage the funds in an open and transparent manner.
According to Kartasasmita, funds have been received by PMI on May 21, 2016, though the symbolic handover took place on Tuesday morning. (WDY)
