Sydney (Antara Bali) - The head of Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Franky Sibarani offered Danish Minister for the Environment and Food Esben Lund Larsen, four interesting sectors to invest in.

"We invite the European investors, especially Danish, to invest mainly in the renewable energy, food industry, maritime and logistics sector," Franky stated in a press release received here on Tuesday.

Besides the Danish minister, the Danish Ambassador to Indonesia Casper Klynge and Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Rosan Roslani also visited the BKPM office in Jakarta.

According to Franky, the realization of investment from European countries between 2010 and 2015 reached 149.8 trillion rupiah or 10.1 percent of the total realization of foreign direct investment in Indonesia.

"The biggest sector to invest in was basic chemistry and pharmaceutical sector. It contributed 24 percent of total European investment in Indonesia," he stated.

Franky hoped the visit of the Danish Minister for the Environment and Food would encourage more foreign investment from Europe to Indonesia in the future.

Based on the BKPM data, the investment commitments from European countries in January 2016 reached 6.53 trillion rupiah, almost 10 times more compared to the same period in the year earlier when the figure was 670 billion rupiah.

The increase in investment commitments from Europe continued its positive trend in 2015. The investment commitments from Europe in 2015 had risen 16 percent to reach 37.3 trillion rupiah, compared to 2014s figure of 32.2 trillion rupiah.

Franky stated that the visit was aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Denmark.

He also conveyed a number of breakthroughs in policy for investment, such as online service, one stop service, facility to secure investment licenses within three hours and the convenience of direct investment for construction.

Additionally, the government also facilitated companies that wanted to import capital goods with a green line acceleration facility.

"Last month, the president launched 11 Bonded Logistics Centers that would facilitate goods movement between different regions in Indonesia. This was one of the opportunities in the logistics sector in which Danish companies can be involved," he remarked.

He stated that the key to improvements was to simplify the regulations for business licenses and to shorten the time these take.

Franky added that BKPM continued to coordinate with related parties to facilitate investors, helping them to reach the realization stage and undertake construction.

"These are end to end services that will be offered to the European investors. The BKPM also has a representative office in London, England, marketing officers across Europe as well as a Europe Union Desk to facilitate the Danish investors," he stated. (WDY)
