Subang, W Java (Antara Bali) - The Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), in the second quarter of 2016, will study incentives for export-oriented raw material industries.
"We will think of the incentives that may be offered to raw material industries which are export-oriented. We will strengthen not only domestic industries but also export-oriented industries," BKPM Chief Franky Sibarani said after inaugurating an upstream textile factory in Purwakarta district, West Java, on Wednesday.
After providing numerous incentives to support labor-intensive industries in 2015, the government feels it necessary to support the upstream industries in the sector, he said.
The incentives include income tax concession, reaching up to 50 percent for textile and shoe industries which employ more than two thousand workers, and tax allowances for textile and shoe industries.
The plan to grant incentives to raw material manufacturers which are export-oriented is aimed at making their products more competitive, he said.
Franky said export-oriented industries also need certainty about their products finding access to the market.
He further said the BKPM will soon focus on studying these incentives by cooperating with the relevant ministries, including the Finance Ministry and the Industry Ministry. (WDY)
