Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesian Military Commander Gatot
Nurmantyo welcomed 175 personnel returning from a peacekeeping mission
in the Democratic Republic of the Congo at the Indonesian Military
Headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Monday.
The personnel had conducted their duties in the Mission de lOrganisation de Republic des Nation Unies pour la Stabilisation en Republique du Congo (Monusco).
The military personnel who were sent under the Garuda Contingent XX-L comprised 151 personnel from the Indonesian Army, 19 from the Indonesian Navy, and five from the Indonesian Air Force.
The military commander also thanked the military personnel for carrying out their peacekeeping mission duties in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
"Soldiers who carried out the UN peacekeeping mission in Congo have certainly gained valuable experience and upheld the good name of the Indonesian Military (TNI), as well as the pride of the entire nation that we love," remarked Nurmantyo.
This honor will hold relevance if the soldiers can apply their experience after returning to their respective units and bring about improvements while carrying out their future tasks.
"Therefore, the soldiers are expected to immediately adjust and adapt to the local environment and also become the agents of change or role models," emphasized the four-star general.
One of the ways of boosting professionalism in the military is to conduct an evaluation of all spheres of achievement in every area of duty, which will help in preparing precautionary and improvement measures to overcome obstacles that may be encountered in the next assignment.
Former Indonesian Army chief of staff appealed to the soldiers to maintain the spirit of solidarity and cohesion that reflects the nations military as a reliable strength to uphold these achievements.
"Avoid any primitive actions, hedonistic behavior, drug abuse, and other negative acts, which can harm the reputation of each personnel and the units, which had been built so far," added the military commander.(WDY)
