New York (Antara Bali) - Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi proposed inter faith dialog and international cooperation to eliminate terrorism.
Speaking at a meeting of foreign ministers of Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea , Turkey and Australia (MIKTA) Retno said Indonesia is committed to fighting terrorism .
Terrorism has to be handled comprehensively with preventive measure, early detection, legal action and rehabilitation, she said at the meeting held on the sideline of the U.N. general assembly session here on Sunday.
Retno proposed Indonesia to host inter faith dialog between the five countries.
She said interfaith dialog is an important part of soft power approach to handle terrorism.
The minister also propose other concrete cooperation in the fight against terrorism through intelligence cooperation and exchange of information about national legislation on terrorism.
The ministerial meeting also addressed issue of climate change.
The minister expressed commitment of their respective countries to supporting new agreement on climate change expected to reached at the conference of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)/COP-21 in Paris , in 30 November - 11 December 2015.
Retno said Indonesia already conveyed Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC) to the secretariat of UNFCCC on 24 September 2015.
Indonesia is committed to voluntarily reducing emission by 29 percent - 41 percent in 2030 with the support of international community.
The meeting was the fourth of the foreign ministers of the MIKTA countries since 2013. (WDY)
