Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party Prabowo Subianto has instructed every cadre of the party, particularly those in the regional and national legislative councils, to always serve the public.
"Brothers and sisters of the people's representatives should exhibit excellent spirit of Red and White (the national flag). While visiting the constituencies, they should continue to be in good spirit, serve the public, and defend justice," retired general Prabowo, former commander of the Special Forces, stated after leading a ceremony to commemorate the nation's Independence Day at Nusantara Polo Club field, Jagorawi Golf Club, Cibinong, West Java, on Monday.
The flag hoisting ceremony to mark the country's 70th anniversary was also attended by politicians from the Red and White Coalition (KMP).
Indonesia has gained its independence after hard work and numerous struggles, and therefore, the people must now maintain freedom and respect the nation, the founder of the Gerindra Party noted.
"Indonesia should stand on its own feet. We are the last fortress of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), and we are obliged to save Indonesia," he affirmed.
Besides this, every legislator must defend the nation's interests over and above other interests, he emphasized.
"Every religion, race, and group across the country must be defended," he added. (WDY)
