Taipei (Antara Bali) - Members of the Indonesian Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) organization in Taiwan, on Sunday, offered prayers, so that the conflict in Yemen would soon come to an end, according NU spokesman Arif Yudi.
"The prayer meeting held at the NU branch office here was attended by 200 Indonesian citizens, including students," Arif stated here on Monday.
Arif pointed out that Yemen had played a crucial role in the development of Islam in Indonesia.
However, the civil war in Yemen has escalated, with the battle against Houthi Shiite militias, who had staged a coup against the government of Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, growing worse.
Meanwhile, Sadraldeen Al Ameri, a Yemeni student in Taiwan, said he felt humbled by the prayers offered by the NU members for the end of the conflict in his country.
"We had no idea of the magnitude of the Indonesian citizens` concerns here for the conflict in our country," affirmed the student of the National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) in Taipei.
"Thank you for your concern and prayers. Hopefully, the situation in our country can improve," Sadraldeen added. (WDY)
