Vatican City (Antara Bali) - Pope Francis on Saturday met with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, the main agenda to discuss economic and social problems of the country, the Vatican said.
"The discussion among those focusing on the context of economic and social difficulties that continue to occur today, with negative consequences especially sebubungan field worker for the youth," said the Holy See in a statement.
Youth unemployment in Italy reached 43.3 percent in October.
"In addition, the importance of education to improve the future of young people is also emphasized in the discussion," the Vatican said.
The meeting took place one day after a general strike when thousands of Italian citizens took to the streets to stage protests against government policy.
The main target of the demonstration was "Employment Law" supported Renzi. The law aims to stimulate the creation of new jobs to facilitate the company to lay off employees and reduce labor rights and severance security during the first year of the contract workers.
Pope and Renzi also "equally express deep concern over the worsening conflict in the Middle East," said the Vatican. (MFD)
