Nusa Dua (Antara Bali) - All contestants of the Miss World 2013 beauty pageant wore traditional costumes from the country`s 33 provinces at the end of the opening of the event here on Sunday.
One by one they presented themselves at the stage at Bali International Convention Center at Hotel Westin, drawing an applause from attendees.
Although they did not wear footwear but their beauty and talent were clearly seen in their traditional costumes themed "Nusantara Parade."
Their final show at the opening was dominated by Indonesian culture in line with the plan scheduled by the organizing committee.
"Their show is very Indonesian from the start to the end. This has made us proud and respected. It was monitored and seen by around two billion people in the world," Bali`s governor Made Mangku Pastika said after the opening event.
The opening of the beuaty contest was highlighted local dance performances including Kecak dance from Bali as well as local traditional songs.
A total of 129 contestants from across the world took part in the contest, which has drawn protests from some Islamic organizations in the country forcing the government to move the final round of the event which was initially scheduled in Jakarta on September 28 to Bali. (*/M038)
