Medan (Antara Bali) - The national flight carrier Garuda Indonesia conducts a maiden flight from new Kualanamu International Airport on Thursday (June 25) at 5.15 a.m. Western Indonesia Standard Time or WIB.
"Early Thursday, Garuda will be the first plane which will take off from Kualanamu airport," president director of airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II, Tri S Sunoko said here on Wednesday.
Technically, there has been no problem found on the soft operational preparation of the Kualanamu airport, because the company has prepared infrastructures needed for the airport operation, he said.
However, he admitted about shortcomings in the maiden operation of Kualanamu that is located in North Sumatra provincial district of Deli Serdang.
The airport soft operation was also attended by deputy transportation minister Bambang Susantono. In addition, state enterprises minister Dahlan Iskan also observed the Kualanamu airport operation. (*/DWA)
