Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Foreign Affairs Minister Marty Natalegawa has extended his deepest condolences to the victims of an earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale that hit Pakistan and Iran and claimed tens of lives on Tuesday.

"We are extending our deepest condolences to (the victims of) the earthquake in Pakistan and express hope that the disadvantageous conditions would be restored soon," the foreign minister said on Wednesday night.

Marty said that until Wednesday night, based on the reports of the Indonesian embassies in Tehran and Islamabad, no Indonesian citizens were found to have become victims of the earthquake.

"We hope that the situation there would recover soon and the government would be able to cope with the situation well," the minister said. (*/DWA)
