Pekanbaru (Antara Bali) - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has predicted that heat wave will affect most areas in Riau province until the third week of March with temperature expected to rise to up to 35 degrees Celsius.

"The heat wave is caused by the movement of sun approaching the equator," Slamet Riyadi, an analyst of the BMKG station in Pekanbaru, said here on Sunday.

According to him, the phenomenon had happened since the past few days and would continue until the third week of March 2013.

He said temperature at noon might reach 35 degrees Celsius or even higher, compared to the average temperature of 32-34 degrees Celsius.

"The movement of the sun approaching the equator is an annual phenomenon," Slamet said. (*/M038)
