Kuala Lumpur (Antara Bali) - Malaysian immigration has detained a number of foreign nationals including 121 Indonesian people in immigration raids conducted at three locations, local media reported.
The local media reported here on Monday that during the first operation held on Sunday in Mantin area, Seremban, 19 foreign nationals including three Indonesians were detained, while the others came from Nigeria, Congo, Pakistan, Sudan, Vietnam and the United States.
"In accordance with a preliminary investigation, the foreign nationals were detained due to entering the country illegally," Head of the Seremban immigration office A Kadir Hussin said.
Meanwhile, during the second raid conducted in a construction project in Seremban at 11.30 pm on Sunday, 76 foreign nationals of which 49 Indonesians were arrested.
All the foreign nationals were detained in Lenggeng Immigration Detain Centre for further investigation based on the country's immigration act 1959/63 section 6 regarding illegal entry and section 15(1)(c) relating to overstay case.
In the meantime, as many as 69 Indonesians were arrested in Melaka during a raid in a construction project in Alor Gajah at 11.30 pm on Sunday (Jan 13).
According to a Melaka's immigration official, Kamalludin Ismail, all the detained foreign nationals are ranging from 21 to 50 years old. (*/DWA/T007)
