Denpasar (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian military (TNI) is ready to secure the commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the first Bali bombing incident here on October 12, commander said.

Major General Wisnu Bawa Tenaya, the regional military commander overseeing among others Bali said here on Tuesday "Australia and the organizer has come to us and the police (in connection with it) and we will jointly work to assure its security."

He said with regard to the anniversary of the terrorist attack that claimed hundreds of lives including Australian tourists he had strengthened TNI forces at village levels.

He had also asked people to report in case they found suspicious things in their neighborhoods.

Unlike before which was in Legian, Denpasar, the commemoration ceremony this year would be held in Jimbaran, which certainly would also be attended by families of the victims from home and abroad.

The first Bali bombing occurred on October 12, 2002 and killed more than 200 people Kuta, a town popular with tourists on the Indonesian island of Bali. Among the dead were 88 Australians and seven Americans.

The blasts tore apart two nightclubs in Kuta. At the time, the country's police chief called the attack "the worst act of terrorism in the country's history."(*/T007)
