Nusa Dua (Antara Bali) - PT Telekomunikasi International Indonesia (Telin) is ready to extend telecommunication service to Timor Leste following the issuance of its license for cellular telecommunication service in the region.
"We have received a 15-year radio spectrum license for cellular telecommunication service in Timor Leste," said president director Syarif Syaria Ahmad, here on Wednesday.
He said that the company had received frequencies at 900 megahertz, 1,800 megahertz and 2.1 gigahertz bands and had also been registered as a service provider for the country.
He also revealed the various services it would provide, which include the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and the Third Generation (3G) services.
He said Timor Leste is an attractive telecommunications market because it has a potential to grow up to 400,000 customers by 2017 or by around 43 percent of that country's market.
To develop GSM and 3G services in Timor Leste, he said, Telin would invest no less than US$50 million in the first five years and then focus on radio network development.(IGT/T007)
