Cairo (Antara Bali) - An Indonesian arts team won "The Best Performer" award at the International Festival for Folk Dance held in Turkey from June 25 to July 7.
"The Svarnabhadaya Balawan Dipta dance group of senior high school Labschool in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, received the best award in a folk dance competition held in the Turkish resort city of Büyükçekmece," the head of information, social and cultural function at the Indonesian embassy in Ankara, Robertus Irawan said on Sunday.
Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey Nahari Agustini warmly welcomed the arts team's successful performance in the"12th Gold Bridge Folk Dance Competition and International Büyükçekmece Culture & Art Festival.
"The award will surely make Indonesia more famous at international level for its folk dance," he said.
Twenty countries took part in the festival themed "Sevgi Birbirimize, Bari Hepimize" (Love for Each Other, Peace for All).
Besides Indonesia and Turkey, the other participants of the festival came from The Netherlands, Brazil, Bulgaria, Jordan, South Korea, Mexico, Macedonia, Poland, Serbia, North Cyprus, Slovakia, Spain, Tajikistan, Thailand, Togo, Ukraine, and Greece.
The umpires of the dance contest came from Portugal, South Korea, the Philippines, Spain, The Netherlands, and Turkey.(*/M038/T007)
