Gorontalo (Antara Bali) - Corruption has been one of the main reasons behind the riots in various regions of the country, according to Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) adviser Abdullah Hehamahua.
"Based on the results of a KPK study, it was found that corruption in regional administrations has been the main cause of the riots in Maluku and other regions," he said during an awareness campaign on anti-money laundering and terrorism funding prevention here on Tuesday.
Abdullah added that such riots reflected the "extreme impact of corruption" and further increased the losses suffered by the state.
"If regional administrators expect security and order in their regions, they must not play with people's money," he stated.
"Corruption is an extraordinary crime because it is transnational in nature, involving international transactions," Abdullah said.(IGT)
