Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesian National Agency for Export Development (BPEN) Director General Gusmardi Bustami has expressed hope that China would step up cooperation in trade and investment in the textile industry in Indonesia.

"We hope the cooperation will strengthen the two countries'  government-to-government and business-to-business relations, especially in the textile industry," Gusmardi said here on Friday.

He noted from Chinese trade history, while referring to the Silk Road that was developed during the 3rd century BC, that China was the right trading partner for Indonesia, particularly for textile products.

"Therefore, we have asked Chinese business players from the textile industry to develop a new trade and investment Silk Road between Indonesia and China," Gusmardi said.

He added the cooperation would benefit the two countries' bilateral trade in textile products.(IGT)
