Denpasar (Antara Bali) - The volume of Bali province's prefabricated house exports plunged to 5,007 units worth US$4.23 million in 2011 from 98,417 units worth US$14.85 million in 2010.

"So the exports fell both in value and volume," Head of the Public Relations Bureau at the Bali Provincial Administration I Ketut Teneng said here on Sunday.

The drastic shortfall was closely related to the sluggish market as a result of the global economic slowdown that affected  a number of export destinations, he said.

The prefabricated house of Balinese architecture becomes famous among the international community for its artistic and practical values.

Orders for Bali's prefabricated houses are usually made when foreign buyers visit the world-renowned tourist island for vacation.(IGT)
