Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Bali's garment exports in the first nine months of 2011 rose 11.6 percent to around US$100 million, making the commodity the province's biggest foreign exchange earner.
The garment exports accounted for 25.8 percent of the province's overall exports which reached US$387.2 million in the nine months through September, the head of the export section at the Bali provincial industry and trade office, Putu Bagiada said on Tuesday.
Garment was among the province's three key export commodities besides frozen fresh tuna and wooden handicraft goods, he said.
In the January-September 2011 period frozen fresh tuna exports contributed US$66 million to the province's foreign exchange coffers. The figure accounted for 17 percent of the overall exports over the period, he said.
Wooden handicraft goods which came in third contributed US$46.9 million or 12.1 percent of the overall exports.
Bagiada said the export of the three commodities fluctuated as reflected by requests for certificates of origin signed by the office.(*)
