Singaraja (Antaranews Bali) - An immigration class II officer of Singaraja, Bali Province, has detained Charles George Albert, a Nigerian man, for allegedly submitting unauthorized identity documents to obtain the travel document of Indonesia (DPRI).
Section Chief of Immigration Control of Immigration Class II of Singaraja Thomas Aries Munandar noted here on Saturday that Albert, along with a woman, claiming to be his wife, had visited the Singaraja Immigration Class II Office on Wednesday (May 2) for obtaining a DPRI.
While evaluating the documents, counter officer Adi Priatna Effendi found several irregularities. The Nigerian used the identity card of Komang Eli Agus Hermanto with the address of Cempaga Village, Banjar Sub-District, Buleleng District.
He also presented the Family Card issued by the Department of Population and Civil Registration of Buleleng dated January 28, 2013, and a birth certificate.
The officer grew suspicious, as Albert`s face did not match the photo on the ID card. The officer then interrogated him.
"He was silent when I interrogated him. The reason being he got sick and his hearing was affected after a fall," Munandar stated.
After gradual investigation, Albert finally claimed to be a Nigerian national. The immigration officer then conducted a follow-up search and found Albert`s passport in which he was a Nigerian, issued on January 8, 2015, and expiring on January 7, 2020.
In addition, the officers found that Albert`s residence permit in Indonesia had expired on September 2017.
"During this time, he admitted to living in Ubud. He entered Bali in June 2017 through the Ngurah Rai Airport," he added.
However, Munandar did not know the exact reason why the Nigerian had obtained an Indonesian passport. (adt/I006/sys/INE)
