Indonesia Achieves Victory in ACSG 2015

Bandung (Antara Bali) - Indonesia won the badminton tournament at the 1st ASEAN Civil Services Games (ACSG) 2015 held in Malaysia.

Indonesia defeated Singapore 5-0 at the Kuala Lumpur badminton stadium.

Provincial Secretary of West Java Guntoro said that this match is an important event, as it will determine overall team morale.

"Thank God, we won the match. What I always tell the teams is to win or to lose is not what matters, but be a champion", Guntoro said here, Tuesday.

He said this match was participated in by athletes from among other things Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Laos, the Philippines and Vietnam.

"The next rival we have to be concerned about is Malaysia. We hope to have the best results against them," he added.

Badminton tournaments include single womens and mens matches, double mens and double womens, and double mens up to 45 years old.

Meanwhile, the deputy chairman of Korpri, West Java province, Perry Suparman, remains optimistic about his teams.

"The badminton team is the same team that brought West Java to the championship in Korpri Sports Weeks at the end of 2013. They are encouraged by the training center we opened last week. We feel it will be supportive for them," he noted.

The opening ceremony of the 1st ASEAN Civil Service Games 2015 in Malaysia was scheduled to be held this afternoon at the Panasonic Sports Complex, Shah Alam, Selangor. (WDY)
