Competing for 28 gold medals in third day

Jakarta (Antaranews Bali) - The 2018 international sports event of Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang has entered its third day when the athletes will compete for as many as 28 gold medals on Tuesday.

Until completing the series of matches on Monday night, the Chinese contingent was still unshaken at the top of the standings with 15 gold, 12 silver and 9 bronze medals.

Following was ranked second in the Japanese contingent with 8 gold medals, 11 silver and 11 bronze, then South Korea which collected 5 gold, 9 silver and 10 bronze in third, while the host Indonesia was in fourth place with 4 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.

Competition in the race for the gold medal on the third day is estimated to be still fierce and the shift in position in the standings can change.

A total of ten sports, namely swimming, wrestling, shooting, wushu, cycling, water polo, fencing, taekwondo, weightlifting, and gymnastics, overall provide 28 gold medals to be contested.

The swimming sports branch is still the provider of the most medals with seven gold pieces, most of which are short-range numbers, such as 50 meters of women's backstroke, 50 meters of men's freestyle, 200 meters of men's breaststroke, and 100 meters of butterfly princess style.

Competition between China and Japan for two days of swimming competitions will certainly continue. China has strength in the men's group, while Japan is in the women's section.

While Indonesian swimmers have difficulty balancing the dominance of the two countries and fail to enter the medal zone.

In the wrestling sport, four gold medals were contested, two freestyle numbers in the women`s group and two grego roman numbers in the men`s section.

Countries such as Iran, North Korea, Mongolia and India will continue to compete. While Indonesian wrestlers up to two days of matches have not been able to provide maximum results and only last up to the quarter-finals.
