RI Gets 16 Gold Medals in Malaysia

Jakarta (Antara Bali) -  Personnel of the Indonesian
Penitentiary Affairs Directorate General who participated in 18th  Asean Prisons Track and Field Championships 2013 in Malaysia, grabbed 16 gold medals.

"We are proud of singing the Indonesia Raya anthem every time of receiving each of 16 medals abroad," secretary to the Penitentiary Affairs Directorate General of the Justice and Human Rights Ministry, Susy Susilawati said here on Sunday.

The Indonesian teams grabbed the medals in competing the 100-200 meters long jump, javelin throw, discus throwing, shot put, 400 meters hurdles, the 800 meters, 1,500 meters, 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters of steeplechase, Susy said.

According to her, the Asean Prisons Track and Field Championships was a biennial event which was participated in by employees of Penitentiary Affairs Directorate General of Asean member countries.

This year, Indonesia only sent 14 athletes or the smallest one among the Asean members, but the small team successfully grabbed 16 gold, six silver and one bronze medals.

"Although Indonesia was not an overall champion, however other participants admitted the greatness of Indonesia that obtained most medals, or they called Indonesia as 'small but has high quality'," Susy noted. (*/DWA)
