President Jokowi Performs Idul Adha Prayer In Martapura

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) performed Idul Adha, or Day of Sacrifice prayer at the Al-Karomah Grand Mosque in Martapura, South Kalimantan, on Thursday.

The Idul Adha prayer was led by KH Wildan Salmon, the Al-Karomah Grand Mosque's chief of Tahfizul Qur'an, while the sermon was delivered by KH Khalilurrahman.

President Jokowi was accompanied by Culture and Education Minister Anis Baswedan, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, TNI Chief General Gatot Nurmantyo, and National Police Chief General Badrodin Haiti, among others.

At the Al-Karomah Grand Mosque, President Jokowi also handed over a sacrificial animal in the form of a cow weighing 800 kilograms.

Thousands of people gathered at the largest mosque in Martapura to perform the Idul Adha prayer with the president and his entourage.

Minister/State Secretary Pratikno earlier stated that from South Kalimantan, President Jokowi would head to North Sumatra to observe the latest condition of Mount Sinabung, which last erupted on September 5, 2015.

"The president is looking forward to accelerating the settlement of problems related to the eruption of Mount Sinabung, which is expected to show continued volcanic activity, and the problems cannot be settled temporarily," Pratikno stated.

For its part, the government needs to resettle residents, who have fallen victim to the eruption of Mount Sinabung, to other areas and create more jobs for them. (WDY)
