9 Countries to Take Part In Jember Marching Band Competition

Jember, E Java (Antara Bali) - As many as nine countries will take part in the international "Jember Open Marching Band Competition IV," taking place at the Sports Hall PKPSO Kaliwates, Jember, East Java from September 18 to 20.

"The participating countries in the Jember Open Marching Band competition are, South Africa, Malaysia, the Philippines, China, Hong Kong, and five individual participants from Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, and Indonesia," said the Organizing Committee Chairman, Tri Basuki on Friday.

The Jember Open Marching Band Competition IV 2015 is based on the theme "Jember Friendship to the World."
According to Basuki, 25 marching bands from various districts and cities in Indonesia will also compete with participants from other countries to win the competition.

"Participants from within Indonesia will come from Jember, Balikpapan, Yogyakarta, Denpasar, Makassar, and Malang," he said, adding that nine juries have been assigned to judge the international marching band competition.

The juries include Kosin Suebprasitwong from Thailand, Tang Chia Hoe from Malaysia, Takuya Wada from Japan, and Fadiel Gasant from South Africa," he said.

There are several categories in the international marching competition, such as marching show band, drumline battle, a color guard contest, and an individual contest.

This year, the world-class Drum Corp International (DCI) from United States will also support the Open Jember Marching Band Competition, which implies that the competition is followed by countries other than Asia and Africa also, Basuki added. (WDY)
