Marrakech (Antara Bali) - FIFA will prohibit third-party ownership of players from May 1 next year, ending a system that critics say fosters corruption, but the advocates insist that the system is an important financial source for the club financially poor.
"The ban will take effect on May 1, 2015," according to a FIFA statement following a decision taken by the executive committee of the world body on Friday.
"Existing agreement will continue until the contract expired. The new agreement is made between January 1 and April 30, 2015 will have a time limit of validity period (maximum one year). "
Critics ownership by a third party has long claimed that such a system, including that occur in the Brazilian Neymar and Argentine Carlos Tevez, could lead to conflicts of interest and potential corruption.
But proponents argue that such systems often help the club that lacks the funds retain their best players to generate funds to rival bids greater than competitors club. (MFD)
