Berlin (Antara Bali) - Germany midfielder Simon Rolfes on Saturday announced that he plans to retire at the end of the season after a career for a decade and nearly 270 times the defending Bundesliga Bayer Leverkusen.
Rolfes (32) won the last match of a total of 26 appearances to defend Germany in a friendly match against Brazil 3-2 in August 2011.
He joined Leverkusen from Alemannia Aachen in 2005, but said he will not renew his contract with Leverkusen when they expire in June.
"It will mark 10 years in Leverkusen. I feel a pleasant experience, I still fit and healthy and now is a good time to stop, "he said after a 1-0 defeat of Bayern Munich Leverkusen to make his team was ranked fourth.
Rolfes said he plans to cultivate the field of sports management and wants to help former athletes plan their careers in the future. (MFD)
