Biak, Papua, June 15 (Antara Bali) - The Biak district in Papua is making every effort to promote the wealth of its natural and historical tourism through a cooperation with PT Garuda Indonesia, according to a reliable official.
"We have many natural and historical attractions to promote in cooperation with the national flag carrier, Garuda Indonesia," Biak district head expert staff Daniel Bonsapia said here on Sunday.
He noted that besides natural and historic tourism, the waters around some islands in the district are perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and diving.
"The tourists who go diving at these islands will have an unforgettable experience to enjoy the beautiful coral reefs with school of ornamental fish," Bonsapia said.
Therefore he added that Biak district administration will continue to cooperate with all stakeholders, private parties, and travel bureau such as Garuda Indonesia to intensively promote the tourism potentials.
"Intensive promotion of tourism potentials in Biak will attract many domestic and foreign tourists to visit the district," he asserted.
Meanwhile, Biak branch of Garuda Indonesia General Manager Wayan Supatrayasa said the national flag carrier is committed to helping Biak district promote its tourism potentials.
"As the national flag carrier, Garuda Indonesia is responsible to participate in promoting Biak`s natural, historical, and marine tourism potentials," Supatrayasa said.
According to him, Garuda is now serving Makassar-Biak-Jayapura route with return flights to ease tourists who want to spend their holidays in Biak. (WDY/M038)
